A PET

Married 45 years, and for all those years we've always had one, two or three pets, but for the last 14 years the only pet we've had is a grouchy, old, white cat,named... Crissy..

Our son and daughter knew how much their dad loved and enjoyed having a dog, and periodically they'd mention to me, that I should get their dad a dog...... hmmmm..........I started thinking, " they might give us a dog"....., and that worried me.
To me, choosing a dog is like a woman choosing a purse or shoes, it has to be the right fit, and "if" we were to get a dog, I wanted to choose one myself.

The more I thought about it, the more I was convinced that it would be good for David to have a little companion, but I didn't know what type of dog we might possibly add to our family.

I started praying about a dog......"should we or shouldn't we????"......., then out of the blue, an answered prayer.

I'm sitting on the patio of our local Mexican food restaurant, and there's a lady with her King Charles Cavalier. I knew nothing at all about this breed,...so I ask about her dog. I was so impressed with this little dog, who was so well behaved, the right size, and cute.

After the lady finished telling me about her wonderful little companion dog, ...I knew I needed to get on the internet and start researching this breed. I must have looked at every web-site on the internet, and the more I read, the more I became convinced, this was the dog for us.

We found the perfect puppy and brought her home December 2007.

This little dog has added so much joy and laughter to our life!!!!! She's given David some responsibility and something to do. He takes her for a walk two or three times a day, and plays with her in the house and yard.

There aren't a lot of things that David can do to feel productive, but taking care of Casey, and taking her for walks, helps him feel good about himself.

I'm so thankful for pets!!!
