GOOD MEMORY

“You can’t control the things that happen to you, but you can control the way you react to them.  It’s all perception.”

— You Again (Movie)

Last week we drove by Bradzoil, the place where David would take our cars to be serviced.   He pointed his finger and said that he remembered going there to take our cars for their oil changes ..... before Alzheimer's.
Then he said, "it certainly wouldn't be safe for me to drive anymore."    I said, "instead of you having to drive you are now being chauffeured."   He smiled and said that he was glad.
We drove a little further down the street and he said, "the good thing is ..... I can still walk."   And then he said, "I used to run everyday, I  bet I can still run."

I love it when there's a little peek into what he remembers.
God is good!

Sounds like he is very happy and accepting. Yes, it is good when they remember.

This reminds me of my daddy. Sometimes when I go see him he perks up and says "Hello, Becky Sue! Your Daddy's been missing you!"

If they only knew how much we missed them, too!

Blessings for a wonderful Thanksgiving~

I love this glimpse inside his head; what he knows, what he remembers, what he thinks about his abilities. Precious.

Most of all, I love his articulated memories. Even of the mundane.

That is so exciting when they do remember some things! It gives a little chance to feel like normal for a bit. So happy for those moments for you! They are precious! Thanks for sharing your blessing. God bless you!

Young David looks as if he's right full of it! Such a handsome guy. I bet you were smiling all the way on that drive as David remembered. I'm smiling now.

Precious moments, those little glimpses into the past when things were good and normal and enjoyable. I bet David could run if he wanted to. He's one strong individual and so are you, Dolores.

This made me happy, but not near as happy as you must have been when h said this! These glimmers of David and what he remembers are truly remarkable to me, what an amazing husband you have, what an amazing wife he has.

Such a sweet conversation you and David shared. I recently came across a pad of paper I kept to record similar conversations with my mom. At the time I wasn't sure why I felt the need to write it down, but now I'm glad I did.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and David.

Small miracles, Dolores. Baby steps! I remember when mom still had those small glimpses into the past. They are fewer now...but, hey: she's almost 92!! I still cherish them.

I pray, often, Dolores, that you and David have many more blessings together here on this earth. Have a Blessed, Happy Thanksgiving dear friend!! xoxoxoxoxo

Blessings to you and David and may God always give you a little good times filled with sunshine, even if the sun goes away in the afternoon...but then again, isn't life like that anyway?! Hey darling friend, enjoy every minute of Thanksgiving along with your 16 loved ones! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as there's no Thanksgiving here, however we'll celebrate Saturday at our (American) friend Lesly's, she cooks great! Happy Thanksgiving. Love U. FABBY
