When I feel sad with the holidays approaching, I stop and remember the last months of David's life and I praise God that he is now free of Alzheimer's.
I'm glad I took pictures at the end of David's life. I look at those pictures and ......it's a grim reminder to me how sick he was.

Last Thanksgiving he was changing rapidly, not wanting to join with the family. He was more comfortable in his music room by himself.
As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach I'm thanking God for so many blessings in my life!!
Thanking God for freedom and our country!!
Thanking God that I lived with my hero and the man of my dreams for so many years.
Thanking God for my family!!
our son and family
our daughter and family
first grandchild
Thanking God for my friends!!
Thanking God for good health!!
Thanking God for my church family!!
Thanking God for my sweet pets, my home, my car, my neighborhood.
Thanking God that our daughter was here with three of her children over the weekend.
Thanking God our son and his family will be here on Thanksgiving.
Thanking God for all of my friends I've met through my blog.
I wish each of you a very peaceful, joyful and delicious Thanksgiving!!!
God is good!!

Yes, those pictures say so much. When I was a widow, those holidays came upon me with so much emotion. Thinking of you this Thanksgiving and rejoicing that in heaven there is no sorrow.

Hi Dolores - YES there is STILL so much to be thankful for - just look at that beautiful family that you just showed us! I know you're thankful that David is not suffering anymore either. I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving - I know it will be bittersweet. Know that there are many of us who are thinking of you during these first holidays without your beloved. Sending you a big hug, my friend!

Dolores,
I know Thanksgiving was difficult for you to cope with and so happy you had your family beside you. Christmas will be another difficult day but you are strong and I admire you. Sometimes we are stronger than we realize, God gives us the strength, God is good. Blessings...Lu
I'm sure you had a wonderful Thanksgiving along with your beautiful children and grandchildren; although, I know you are missing your hero and love of your life, in this special time.., the other thought would be, that dear David is in an eternal Thanksgiving with the Lord.. and that, sweet and beautiful Liz, will put a smile on your face. This will prepare you for the other family Christmas holiday coming, but you will greet it with your inner strength and by the hand of God. You do have so much to be thanksful for, my dear friend. Thank you for your sweet and kind comments about us..I love you.

Bittersweet post. Knowing I just began to learn about you & your sweet David because of Alzheimers', is a blessing, but the reason I know of you is sad.
I am thankful for you Dolores, for your willingness to share this time of David's decline with us, honestly, freely. I am thankful to see how a wife and husband can be so much in love to the end, and what a testimony for the GOOD such love is.
I am thankful for you having such a loving family, extended family, and also for the blogging friends who have will truly rally around to uphold their blogging friends in prayer & words of encouragement.
Thank-you Dolores !
I just discovered your blog through the Chatty Crone. I am thankful for the support of blogs such as yours. People like you who share their journey through alzheimers help many more than you realize. And hopefully, you can find comfort from the words of others.
Hugs, Kim
