NEVER SAY NEVER!

When our children were growing up, one phrase I remember saying to them, "never say never", and now the same little phrase can go for me too. Several years ago when our family went to the beach, I thought, ............................"this will probably be our last beach trip",...... but last year our family (all 16)... went to the beach one more time, and it was great! After that trip......... I thought this might be our last beach trip. Never say never........here we are with our best friends at Port Aransas, eating at our favorite restaurant, sitting outside with ....what seemed like hurricane force winds, because we needed to sit outside with our dogs. David loved it...we loved it!!!!

Surprise...surprise.....our best friends suggested that we go to the beach and spend one night this past weekend. Hmmmmmmm.... My first thought: ....David's happy at home, and keeping the same routine seems best for him, but after asking him...... he said, "lets go"....

Second thought: we have a dog...we couldn't go on a trip without our little girl.....when I told this to our friend, she said, "find a place that will take dogs and we'll take ours too"..... I did, we did.... and look at our beautiful girls.

Oh, what a blessing animals are in our lives, but the 'bigger' blessing is friends!!!! I'm not sure a day has gone by since 1994 that my best friend has not called me to 'touch base' and make sure all is well with us. Wow, what a blessing for us!

My best friend married David's best friend in 2000...... how convenient!!!!

David's always loved walking on the beach, and with Alzheimer's on our door steps, we're more cautious, and we know that we need to make sure he doesn't get lost (he never has, but there's always that first time) ......I never doubted for a minute about David's safety with his best friend.

February on the Texas gulf coast........ who could ask for anything more......... The bottom line: 'never say never'.........Alzheimer's or not...... one more memory. Thank you God!
