June 2007 (building the pool)
David is still doing relatively good, with the exception of what he sees and doesn't see. Example: yesterday afternoon I had a large bag of chips on the counter and a container of dip. He looked at the bag and tried to figure out what it was and then how to get the chips out.....forget about dipping.

One morning this week, he awoke and saw the sun coming through the door. He thought he was seeing a bird in the bedroom or a snake on the floor. I suppose this is hallucinations, not sure..... I turned on a bright light, and he continued looking for awhile trying to figure out what he thought he was seeing. When he realized it was nothing (thank goodness) we laughed about it....
His memory is still good, but it's the eyes of the beholder that continue to play tricks on us.
I'm not complaining though........he's still doing so good!
And I say, "thank you God that he/we can laugh!"

Dear Dolores ... yes, David is having hallucinations. Please don't be alarmed, it's all part of it. BUT, it can be frightening/confusing for the person having them. Just be there to reassure him everything is OK and try to distract him if you can.
We laugh to keep from crying. Poor David. It must be so confusing thinking you are seeing something that isn't there. Elbert has done that a little but not much. His thoughts are what he has the most trouble with.
That must be so unsettling, scary and confusing for dad and I imagine difficult for you to watch him trying to understand what he is seeing as he tries to make sense of it all.
