MEMORIES and REAL LIFE

Friends of ours are following along the Tour de France (they're actually there!) ...... as I was looking at their wonderful pictures today, and seeing Monte Carlo, .... I had to look back on one of our trips to Monte Carlo...... another life ago. I wish I had taken more pictures..., but pictures weren't a big thing and cameras weren't very good...... and then.... there was the price of developing....
Here we are overlooking the city....so many moons ago!
Me, with a very sore throat, and not feeling well, in front of the casino in Monte Carlo...... we walked up and down the streets looking for a pharmacy to find something for my sore throat...bad throat, but a good memory!
David in front of the Casino.......

Here we are before dinner....

...........REAL TIME........

This morning David was looking out the front window of our home for a long time. When I finally ask what he was looking at, he said that he was trying to figure out who was standing on top of the fire hydrant in front of our house. I looked, and then I ask him to go outside with me, and let's look at it together. We went outside, and he stood next to the fire hydrant for quite some time, just looking, and then he walked away, and said....... "hmmmm I guess it was my eyes." Our little tree must have looked like a person to him. I know that his eyes/mind play tricks on him........ I know that things will change, but for now...... I say, "thank you God .....for 'right now'..."

How nice that you were able to take that nice trip while David was still healthy. Although I imagine it is a bit bittersweet to look back on the memories. I admire how you are able to be thankful for the good moments. I hope you have more of those.

I think you hit the nail right on the head ..... if you look at the fire hydrant long enough and at just the right angle, the tree becomes part of it. Yea, David!

Wow, I remember when you and dad went to Monte Carlo... you LOVED it!

I'm sorry about dad. I think you handled his "seeing things moment well"... you are such an inspirational person/mother!

I'm glad you have those Monte Carlo days to look back on. Y'all have been blessed!

Love you more than you can imagine!!!

What wondeful memories. Isn't it nice that we have those types of memories now? Sometimes those are the only things that get us through the day.. Hope all is well with you. Wish I could send you some rain..we've about had enough for a bit... hugs ~lynne~

I felt so for both you and David about the fire hydrant. How sad that life changes so much for our loved ones.

I know how important it is to have those memories of wonderful times of the past. It helps up go on through the tough days.

God bless

Delores,

Your trip to Monte Carlo looked fabulous! :) It looks like you and David really enjoyed yourselves!

I think I mentioned this to you, (Im not sure) but my Mother had Dementia along with the Alzheimer's. Dementia is when you see and hear things that are not really there. My Mother was taking NMDA (Namenda) for that. The NMDA helped keep her focused... for the most part. It helped alot. Be sure to mention David's experience to the Doctor. It could be nothing.... but it's best to check and make your Doctor aware.

You are always in my prayers...
