MIXED EMOTIONS

David always had fun at the beach.....
Our son and his family rented a house in Port Aransas this week. They ask if we'd like to join them.
Hmmmm, we wanted to join them, but our south Texas weather has been unbelievably hot, with triple digit temperatures, and the horrible drought conditions are so depressing............. so, driving to the beach has not been a top priority on our list of things to do this year.

However, when ask if we could at least come for one night and bring one of our grandson's home with us, for play practice in a local play........ we of course said, "yes".....

We were going to leave today, but our daughter in law called yesterday morning to say that our grandson would not need to come home early after all. Oh my, we can stay home in our air conditioned house. However, ...... I had mixed emotions ...

Each summer our family has traveled to the gulf coast for a family vacation, but as our family grows, finding a time to vacation together becomes more and more difficult.
Our daughter's family is adopting child # 6 sometimes this summer, so we knew that a family vacation to the beach would be out of the question this particular year.
.............................................................................................
So here I am ......reminiscing with pictures, on a few vacations past.....

This little guy is no longer a little guy, he's almost as tall as his dad, and 16 years old.....
Here's our Houston family with five children, now they have 2 more, with 1 more coming soon.
Our two children........aren't they cute~.....
Our son with 2 boys, now he has 3...
Our first grandchild, and now she's 20........
Our first four grandchildren, and now there are 10 grandchildren....going on 11.
Here is part of our family in the elevator several years ago, there were 6 more in another elevator.

The children having fun covering me with sand..
I could go on and on, but I'll stop for now....

And I say, "thank you God for pictures, good memories, and most of all......that David is doing good."

Oh Dolores, your family pictures are priceless. What fun you all have had over the years. I so wished we had taken more pictures and enjoyed more "fun" time earlier. One can't go back but try to move forward. There are days when I have to admit that is sooooo incredibly hard to do... guess I'm having one of those mornings... I'm so glad to hear that David is doing good..

I so enjoyed seeing the photos from earlier times. I understand about the mixed feelings. I sure had mixed feelings this weekend. With Elbert in Magnolia I wanted to and could have gone to Alabama (800 miles away) to our nieces funeral. Our son drove down but I just didn't think I could take the 'quick' trip with that many miles packed into it. So, I stayed home. As we get older and have 'other' responsibilities we have to make some choices that we would not have made when we were younger.

Hi Dolores, you are just too cute.. I've had the lamp for quite awhile now, and of "all" the lamps I have it is one of my "very" favorites. They have another bunny lamp at work I've been admiring for a "very" long time.. waiting for them to really mark it down to a rock bottom price I could afford..lol.. I hope you're having a good w/k... hugs ~lynne~
