JOURNALING/BLOGGING & Brothers/Sisters

David and his sister
Our son and daughter, brother and sister

My brother and me
After David's diagnosis of Alzheimer's, my head was spinning with so much confusion, anxiety, fear, grief, sadness, and oh my, sleep was so hard to find. I decided to start a journal. At night I'd sit at the computer when I couldn't sleep, and pour out my thoughts . For me it was so therapeautic to put on paper what I was feeling and to document the changes taking place in our lives.

When I started this blog in January 2009, I stopped writing in my journal, now this blog is my journal of sorts.  The journal was what I needed the first year, for now, blogging is exactly what I need. The interaction with  friends through blogging has been priceless to me.  I love reading the comments, they always lift my spirits or give me something to think about.

We've had a great week!   Alzheimer's is different with each person, but for us, here we are 4 years and 4 months from the diagnosis, and David is still doing so much better than I ever expected at this time!
Don't get me wrong ..... the days are far from perfect.
Right now..... today.......we're moving forward with Alzheimer's, whether we want to or not ...one step at a time .... and live each day for the here and now......life is different, but it's not bad.......

I praise God for the good days!!!

Happy one year blogging anniversary! It's been just a little more than that for me. You're right; it's a little like journaling. I'm still amazed at the people I've become attached to. You are one, Dolores. God bless you and keep you and David and give you many more good years.

Hi Dolores - I started my blog as a personal journal, too. My family doesn't understand that concept, but they don't blog - they mostly just roll their eyes.

God bless you both in this journey. Keep up your blog journal. I think it gives me strength to read the comments and there are so many Christian women out there who really care. We just all wanna reach out to each other and be a support. Hugs - Vickie

Hello there! I started writing my blog in November of 2008 as a way to 'publish' the poetry I wrote during the last two years of Mother's life .... I began a journal when she came to live with us in September 2002. Journaling and blogging are two of the healthiest things we as caregivers can do. Blessings today! Hi David!

I love it when you share these photos. How curiously interesting that you and David each came from a boy/girl family and then *had* one of your own. Love it.
