PETS - another medication

We've been married 47 years, and there's always been one, two, three or more pets in our life.   For many years the only pet we had  was a grouchy,  white cat .. named... Crissy..(she's 16 years old)

After David's diagnosis of Alzheimer's ,  our son and daughter would periodically mention to me how much their dad loved dogs, and maybe I should get him a dog...... hmmmm..........I started thinking, " they might give us a dog"....., and that worried me.
To me, choosing a dog is like a woman choosing a purse or shoes, it has to be the right fit, and "if" we were to get a dog, I wanted to choose one myself.

The more I thought about it, the more I was convinced that it would be good for David to have a little companion, but I didn't know what type of dog we might possibly add to our family.

I started praying about a dog......"should we or shouldn't we????".......
I found the perfect puppy for us,  and we brought her home  December 2007.

Casey has added so much joy and laughter to our life!!!!!    She gives David responsibility and something he can do.  He takes her for a walk two or three times a day, he feeds her,  and plays with her in the house and yard.

I'm so thankful for this precious little dog!!!

We're blessed with good neighbors.   We keep our gate open between our homes, and Cam (looking a little guilty) comes over and eats Casey's food and borrows her toys,  and she does the same at his house.
Casey's friends,   Cam and Copper (yes,  a Pit Bull, but very sweet)   ...
Casey
Kayla is another friend
And I say, "thank you God for pets that add laughter and responsibility for David."

Dolores, Pets add SO much to our lives, and someone who's never had a dear furry friend just doesn't understand. We love all our critters around, and I'm thinking of getting another one myself. Your little Casey is precious and I'm glad David has a buddy that he can get so much therapy not to mention LOVE from! Good decision!

AND your cat is a hoot! She's so beautiful and fluffy, but just look at that mad face! I guess she doesn't like your camera!

Dolores,
I have found our animals to be such a blessing! I cannot say enough about how much wonderful they are for people with an illness...and I speak as one of those people. They bring joy, and happiness and they also help with stress. So I agree wholeheartedly. I loved the pictures. They are precious. What beautiful animals! You are a constant source of encouragement.
Love and blessings,
Vikki

Oh my gosh, this has to be one of my favorite posts! I LOVE all the pics! I've always thought it was the cutest thing that Casey has a next door playmate!!
I honestly would have never thought of you having an inside dog, but I'm so happy you tried it!! There's just something different about the "relationship" when they live inside with you. I'm so happy that she's been such a blessing to you and Uncle David! (I don't know what I'd do without my Buddy...I like him more than most people! LOL!)
Love you!! L~
