I'm happy to say that life is good, without too much change in David. Some days are better than others, but thankfully I don't see a big decline.
I frequently post pictures of David with a big smile on his face, but there are days (Saturday and Sunday) when he sits with his head down, looking very sad. It's the Alzheimer look....and on those days, I can't get through to him.....
Monday he had a happy face, as he was sitting by the pool sharing his afternoon snack with Casey.....YEA!! Thank God for new days!
Two of our kittens went to their new home yesterday. It was time (8 weeks), but I must admit I shed some tears. I know they will be well cared for at our son's home, but I felt so sad taking them away from their mother and all they were accustomed to at our house.
However, I won't miss the little stinkers tearing up my plants on the patio.
The little cutey that's getting into the flower pot above and below, is the one we're keeping. Her name is Lilly..... I found her in my Day Lilly bed.
Hmmmm, I'm hoping she'll stay out of trouble with the other 2 gone..... not too sure though.
I apologize for not reading my blog friend's post and responding, but I will..... I'll catch up.
And I say, "thank you God for new and happy days!"

Oh Delores! My heart goes out to you.
I know the look quite well, not often but there are days when it lasts all day. The sentences don't make much sense on those days.
Your kitties are cuties, and Lily is precious. I hope she does well without her siblings.
You are in my thoughts a prayers every night.
love, Judi
Oh!! Look at that last Photo Delores!! Great Shot Girl! I Love it!
And yes, Thank God for New Days...
Hope you're taking some time today for You...
Sending a BIGGG Smile and Hug Sweetie!!

I've had two back to back very stressful days and I have nothing like David's excuse. Nothing happened...just life stuff...you know...house repairs, yard work, etc.
I love your kitties...precious. Thinking of you and trusting for more days will SMILES and tears.
Love to you~Rebecca
Glad to see that smile back!
Lily is adorable. I am so allergic to cats but love them anyway. Son has 4 at his house and daughter has 5 at her house. Great photos Delores!
I am coming back to Texas for a visit in a few months. I can't wait...I am sooooooo homesick! I will be in the Panhandle of Texas where my parents live.
Have a good week! Blessings, Karen
Delores, ever since I started reading your blog, I've been amazed by your cheerful outlook despite the challenges facing you and David. I think your positive attitude goes a long way in helping David to be cheerful most of the time. And your pets must share some of the credit too!
Best wishes for continued smiles
Gilda
Boy, do I know that 'Alzheimers look' and there just isn't anything you can do to reach them. So sad.
I love Lilly. She is adorable. Love the picture of her with the bunny. How could you not love a kitty like that.
Happy to see David smiling and that means your smiling too.
I on the other hand had a very stressfull weekend with my MIL she was full of anger and frustrations, she thinks someone came in her room and stole all of her sweaters. They are hanging in her closet , she sees them there and still dosen't believe it.Its hard on everyone.

I know that "lost in their own world look." My Dad has been that way on and off for a long time. I go to visit and only get one or two words out of him. The next time I visit he might talk about something. It won't make any sense, but at least he's talking.
Dolores - I know the "look", too, I'm afraid. I'm glad that David still has days of smiling tho. God is so good. And how could you NOT smile with such cute kitties! We have a new kitty at the farm. Her name is Alice - come by and see her!
AND REMEMBER TO TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOU! Be good to yourself, too!
Vickie
Dolores...your language....lol...!!! Little Stinkers? Don't you mean those DARLING little balls of fluff...nooo, you don't grit your teeth when you say it....lol...!!!! Enjoy your week, Jenny
Lilly is a pretty kitten and it looks like she will be putting smiles on your face and hopefully David's for many days and weeks and years to come, hopefully she will restrain from shredding the plants and flowers~
Just stopping by via Christine and thought I'd leave a comment, hope you don't mind.
I'm so sorry to read about your husband's condition. It's a terrible illness to deal with but right off the bat I noticed your positive attitude and it drew me in. You sound like a strong, cheerful person and your husband is lucky to have you!
I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I'll be praying for many more smiling and bright days for both of you!
I remember that look too. It is so sad to see. My heart goes out to you, Dolores. Thankfully, every day isn't like that and there are still smiles to be found. Casey seems to be such a loyal companion to David. I love the photos of them together. I remember when my mom was in assisted living and people would bring their dogs in to visit the residents. Most of them had big smiles on their faces on those days.
Love your picture of the kitty with the bunny statue. It looks like the bunny is giving the kitty a big hug.
Dolores,
Thank you for kind comments on my last post. It means so much to know that what I write is a blessing to others.
I am so grateful that David is having good days in spite of the bad days. This disease can be so horrible. As a nurse, I see it so frequently and it is always so devastating. David, however, seems to be doing better than most who have been diagnosed as long as he has. God is so good and so gracious to hold at bay the progression of this condition and allow you days of happiness and peace.
You are such an inspiration to me and I look forward to your next post. Prayers and blessings to you today, dear friend.
In Grace,
Marie
Your kitty looks so cute in the garden, Dolores. I can see how sad it is to see David looking down like that but we always have to look forward and focus on the days that he is smiling. Please take care!....Christine
it reminds me God's mercies which are new every morning!
Lilly is so beautiful - such a cute face to get into so much mischief!
I understand your post.Love J
Hi Dolores.. yes, thank goodness for our pets during this time.. the kittens are just too cute for words. I hope happy days are continuing.. have a great w/k.
hugs ~lynne~
Your kitty is very pretty, such beautiful coloring.
Mom, Lilly is precious! I'm so glad that you kept her. I know God sent you those kittens to keep a smile on your face :-) It's such a blessing that Jeff's family wanted to keep the other 2 kittens. I know it was difficult to let them go, but at least you know they are in good hands and you can check on them any time.
Love you and dad a ton!
You know, Dolores, that top photo, I know it shows David when you are not able to 'reach' him, but I think it's also a great photo. Very poignant and touching. I think it really expresses how he is. I don't know quite how to put it, but I think it's a photo that speaks about a million words. Your compassion for David shows through in that photo. No 'for show' here...it's the real thing.
