I ask David one night last week, "what's my name?" ..... He stuttered around and said, "I don't know, but I do know who you are." Hey, that's important. I ask him if my name was Linda or Dolores....he said, "Dolores." YEA! He's always called me Sweetie, so I ask him if he knew a Honey or Sweetie ... He said, "you're Sweetie." Yea Again!!!
Each time I think we're on the downhill slide of Alzheimer's........there's a pleasant surprise, we have a good week......YEA AGAIN!

David wore a dress shirt and tie 5 days a week when he was working. I saw him on the weekend with jeans, old hat and his dogs.
A man and his dogs.....good memories....good times!
Last week was a wonderful week....day and night, and for that I am so grateful!!
Our family (17 in number) will be here on Thanksgiving day.
And I say, "thank you God for so many blessings to give thanks for......."

Love, love, love this post!! I really love the photos of David with his dogs. What a rugged man's man. Good times, indeed.
Happy Thanksgiving, dear cyberfriend. The Lord loves your grateful heart.
Lovely post and lovely photos. Glad you had a great week, and best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I used to tease my father because he'd say "hey Clynt...uh Jeff...uh Barbara" before he got my name right. Considering I was the only girl in the family...
I'm glad you had a great week!
Dolores, Your post helped me get a perspective on 'thankfulness' for which I am very thankful for :)
Sounds like you'll be busy for Thanksgiving. Have a happy, happy one!
Deb
Have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful to have met you, Dolores, and to share our common journey with ALZ hubbies. Each situation is different, but the blogging is such rich.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving. We have six coming over and I will have to tell hubby every day about it. Glad we also are entertaining. Don't know how long we can do this.
Hugs,
Carol
These are wonderful pictures and memories, Dolores. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family. Enjoy!...Christine
I'm sharing your happiness with you! I remember the first time I realized my mother didn't know who I was. It's never easy with this disease, is it.
Happy Thanksgiving, friend!!
I love this post.David is still remembering the most important things and he seems happy, you are thankful.I believe his good days and attitude are because of your good and thankful attitude in spite of these hard times.Blessings indeed!
I like the pictures through the years of David and the dogs. It is so good he has a dog in his life now. Does the dog seem to bring him happiness and comfort? It appears so in the picture.
Yea!!! Good weeks are great! Love the pictures. Have a wonderful holiday celebration with your family!!
It won't let me sign in....! Karen
Hi Dolores:
I just stumbled by your blog and instantly put the breaks on as we, too, are living with Alzheimers in our family. My husband's mom, the sweetest Mother-in-law anyone could ask for has been living with this for 5 years now. She is 86 years old and now in a nursing home near Toronto, Canada. We visit as much as we can but we are 6 hours away so it is not as often as I would like. I was so thankful to see your post today. I looked back on some earlier posts and see that you love animals so do drop by my blog as I am having a give-away for Christmas and would love for you to join in. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Deb=^..^=x5 Ottawa, Canada

Here's wishing for you, David and your entire family a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
You are one brave soul, Dolores, 17 of them.... oh my.
Good moments are wonderful, they make me smile too, sometimes too infrequent but they are there if you look for them !
Happy Family Thanksgiving !
Diane
Nothing like a boy with his dog... such sweet pictures, Dolores. I know you are so thankful for these good memories and the ones yet to be! I hope and pray that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, that David will enjoy it and know he's with family that loves him, and that he'll have some little "glimmers" of past holidays to help him remember the love that you all share. I pray that he'll be calm, and that the action, the busy-ness of the day and the kiddos will not deter him from joining in the fun and being amongst those he loves. May the Lord bless you all richly, Dolores!
Hi Dolores,
Just back from my trip and so happy to read that you've had a good week. That's so cute that David still remembers who his sweetie is.
Your Thanksgiving decor looks so pretty and cozy with the candles. I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
You were so right about Australia, we loved it there.
Hugs,
Kim
