Recently I've thought ........... a kitten would be fun to have in the house ..............(silly me!)
Our next door neighbor is an animal activist in our community. She and others have been instrumental in improving our City Pound.
She called me from the City Pound last week to tell me of a tearful elderly couple and their kitty. It seems the man was recovering from a stroke, and they were afraid the cat would trip him. They also have space heaters and they were afraid the cat would cause a fire.
We don't have a kitten, but we are now the proud owners of a one year old neutered kitty; better for us than a kitten (I also discovered he's been de-clawed). I've named him Punkin.
Punkin is very affectionate, and jumps on David's lap for some rubbing, and David loves it!!
I feel extremely blessed that David loves animals as much as I do.
David is doing remarkably well. He continues listening to his music, clapping his hands, with his faithful companion by his side.
One day at a time ... this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.

This post is beautiful... Love Chris
Awesome post. I love the saying that you posted. I really have a problem about worrying about the future. I will have to remember this and share it with my mom. I don't know if I told you but my dad is now on meds for his AD. I am also a lover of animals. My dogs really help with my stress.
What a beautiful kitty! Know punkin will add happiness to your family.
Oh, Punkin is just adorable and will only add love and enjoyment to your home. So happy for everyone. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
The quote from Ida Scott Taylor is so fitting for not only you and David but for everyone.
I love your kitty! He is so beautiful and what a great name - "Punkin". Sweet times are coming, Dolores!
Congratulations! Punkin looks like a little cuddle bug!
Hugs,
Karla
Pets can be so intuitive making them perfect companions. I know that my grandmother certainly loved the cats and hers would always sit with her whenever she was feeling low and the cat slept with her giving her an extra sense of comfort. I'm so glad that David has both dog and cat now. That couple must have been so happy to know that their pet was going to such a loving home.
Awwwww what a CUTE kitty!!! And I just love the name! :-). Animals are Such a blessing! So glad he's taken to Uncle David. Beautiful quote too!
Love you!! L~
This just could be what the dr ordered.. another sweet bundle of fur to give and receive kisses. What a cute face Pumpkin has and he sure looks right at home. How is Casey handling the new member?
I bet that sweet kitty will be spoiled rotten with David there to love on it.
GOD richly bless you all.
Punkin! Adorable name for an adorable kitty. 'Lucky' Punkin to have you and David.
I think Punkin was MEANT to come to you and David. I know she will be wonderful for him.Hope this will be a GOOD week. XO, Pinky
What a cutie that Punkin is...I see hours of pleasure from loving that kitty...David looks great!!! Thinking of you each and every day!!!
What a beautiful kitty! Love the name. Also love the quote from Ida Scott Taylor.
Glad things are going well.
I think that was a great idea, but I'm a cat person and I love to see another homeless cat adopted. It sounds like it was a win win situation for all concerned.
Animals are a gift from God. And Adam got to name each one.
Sunday School, 101 if I remember correctly. Stands as true today as then. Blessings on ya.
hugs, judi
So happy that David is happy and that you both enjoy your pets. Enjoyed the pictures.
This is surely an advantage of having your loved one at home with you. I hope I can do that also when my husband's Alzheimer's progresses.
Hugs and prayers,
Carol
Oh Dolores, I'm so happy for you! A kitty will be so good for you! I'm glad David likes him too.
It just amazes me the things we have in common. I hope your week is full of wonderful moments!

After reading this post, I am reminded once again of your wonderful outlook on life. I have just copied the quote as I think it is really good and something I would like to carry with me as a daily reminder.
Your new kitty is adorable. Love the white body and striped tail. I know the elderly couple must feel a great sense of relief to know that their beloved pet has gone to a loving home.
Glad to hear that David is doing well.
Isn't it great the way "things' come into our lives. a lovely affectionate cat is to me like worry beads. You rub them, cuddle them, they purr, you feel special and off they go! I love it. I'm not at all impressed with the de-clawing. It's in the same category as tail lopping.. Cruel. I think it's not allowed in Australia.
I think you are a very special person and have a very heavy load to carry.
I wish you all the best and shall continue to stalk your blog. All the very best of luck for you and yours.
psMy Mum is now in Aged Care and even though it is the only place for her as she now has to have 4 insulin injections a day.. it is HARD...
Ahh.. he is adorable! What a blessed cat to be inside on a warm bed.
I have fallen in love with my kitty (he was a feral kitty who lived in a tree outdoors for the first 4 mos of his life.) He fulfills my 'mothering' needs. :-)
I'm glad to hear David is doing so well. How are YOU?
Hi Dolores,
I was just about to go work on a project, and I thought of you. So, I grabbed a cup of coffee and came for a visit. Oh, I have thought of getting a kitten. Punkin looks adorable. I love their personalities. We have two dogs and our world traveler cat passed some years ago and we never replaced her.
How wonderful that David gets so much comfort from his companion. Dogs are great, like a bundle of love.
Hope you have a beautiful day.
P.S. It's so nice, my youngest daughter is a nanny to this adorable three year old little boy. Whenever he comes over, my husband becomes the old dad we remember. It's great for him, and for my daughter. She says that it's the only time she has a window into her old dad. Isn't God great?
Karen
Dolores, I love your kitty and congratulations on owning this cutie. We also love animals, have 3 cats only one year old and think have told you we feed about 10 ferals and have had all of them fixed. Wasn't easy but my son and I did it. So happy to hear David is doing so well. Hugs...Lu
So cute~ I have a pumpkin....she is a nut :) We love animals around here as well....to the tune of five! So glad David is enjoying Punkin. Sending hugs your way.

I hope you know this lifts my spirit this day to know your house is filled with smiles and laughter. Punkin is sure making the rounds I see and there is nothing more soothing than a cat purring. What a way to be lulled to sleep.
GOD sure sent this sweet baby to the correct home to spread its joy around.
Contiuned prayers for you and yours.
what a little cutie....hope it all works out with the new furbaby...
Punkin is truly a blessing in feline form ! Perfect for you & David.I especially like the picture of Punkin at the window, and the quote at the bottom of the post, so heart-breakingly wise.
Lovely pictures. I have five cats, two dogs, two ducks and six hens. Mum's in Cat Heaven when she's over here.
