Careful what you pray for.......

(Casey, Pumpkin and me)
Careful what you pray for.

Here's the story:    I've been a fairly busy person most of my life.   That changed when I started being a full time caretaker for David;  not that I wasn't busy, but a different type of busy.  I'm so thankful I had the honor/privilege of caring for my sweet David during those 9 years.

Next came AlzCare and for those 9 months..... I was still constantly thinking of him and going to see him, but I wasn't actively involved in things like I had been "before."

I've been praying for something to do besides my normal activities.   As I've prayed, I've also had this thought go through my mind......."God doesn't choose the qualified, he qualifies the chosen".

Our pastor called me last week to see how I was doing....... and then....... he said, "I've been thinking about you and how organized etc  you are (I'm not too sure about that).  He said, "We need a new pictorial church directory and someone to be 'in charge' and  I thought  of you."

Oh my goodness!    For most of you this wouldn't be a big deal, but truthfully.... my brain and thought process still feel like mush most of the time.     I thanked him and told him I'd think and pray about it and let him know in a day or two.

I thought and prayed ....   I kept coming back to the thought that had been running through my mind....I've been praying for 'something' and the thought  about God will qualify me...... was running through my head.    My next thought was to call 3 of my friends and see if they'd help me  (if they said, "no", then I wouldn't do it).   By golly, would you believe all three of them said yes with no hesitation.     My friends are such a great blessing in my life.

The next 8 weeks will be challenging for me, but I keep reminding myself of my prayer and thoughts.   And......I won't have so much time to think/miss David.
(Andrew and David playing army men)
Our grandson, 12 years old, is starting Confirmation at our church.  He ask me to be his 'Friend in the Faith'...the friend  who tries to guide him through confirmation.  I am honored that he ask me.  (David was the Friend in the Faith for Andrew's older brothers)..

Andrew towers over me in height.... he's the sweetest boy.    David spent so much time playing 'army men' with him when he was 4, 5, and 6 years old....what a blessing!
(here he is with my best friend's daughter whose also going through confirmation, two REALLY good kids!)
God is Good!!

Hi Dolores, You have seriously made my day. First, the picture of you and your animal family is simply sublime! We just got a new cat and I am so in love with it but any ways.....the pictorial job will be something to occupy your mind, your friends will help and it is only for 8 weeks! And to have your picture taken puts a smile on everyone's face! You are my encouragement. Many times I think of things that make me sad or down and then I think of you and all you have been through and then I say...if Dolores can do it...so can I. I am still praying for you and your family. Prayers are good...so good.

Blessings and happiness to you,
Susannah

It made me so happy to see a new post from you, Dolores. I had been thinking of you and hoping that you are doing well.
I can see by the picture that your furry friends are taking good care of you :). Though I really don't know about your orginizational capabilities, I somehow believe your pastor has chosen the right woman for the job. So nice of your friends to be so willing to help.
How special that Andrew has asked you to be his Friend in the Faith.
Hugs,
Kim

Truly an answer from GOD!!! He does choose us. So many stories in the bible where Jesus chose people and they felt the same way you did.

Prayers for your continued walk on Faith and with the challenges ahead.

Prayers for your grandson as you nurture him in his coming confirmation.

Keep your eyes and heart on the LORD and you cant go wrong when He is leading your path.

Remembering you in prayer.

So happy you will have something to do to keep you busy and active. Its been 2 years for me that my John and my Mother in Law( she had alzheimers lived with me 12 years) passed away, life as I knew it was gone. Very difficult to put a check mark next to the word widow, and to see happy couples together.
God in his wisdom let me travel all over the world and then miracles of miracles he gave me a little kitten who I just adore. Life is good. Different but good.
Take care Delores

With four of you on the job it's going to be so much fun. I really do think so. God is good and this is going to be a great project! Enjoy it.

Your grandson is a handsome boy. He looks quite a bit like his dad and granddad, I think.

So glad to hear from you!

I sure wish God answered me as clearly as he does you. I guess it's because I dont' have the faith you do. I'm trying.

I'm so glad you'll have something out of the ordinary to occupy your mind for a while; it's a great distraction!

love you lots,

I pray you are doing okay.

About your orchid, have you repotted it? Get rid of the old bark that may have broken down into soil. The roots need air so this maybe your problem. Also get some good orchid food, that will help as well.

GOD bless you and keep you safe.

Your post made my day, was the shiny moment...first one this morning. God IS good, always has been, always will be. I am so very happy for you. Please keep me in prayer. I am doing better but have been praying for the Lord to guide me toward something that will make this present transition a bit easier to handle. I know that he will. He is so kind and loves us so dearly. It takes time too, I know, for each of us to work through our sorrows. Losing a spouse, one that was our best friend is very hard, as you know. Again, let me say not just how happy I am to hear your good news but how very proud of you I am. It takes courage to take on new things but challenges are good. There is a miracle somewhere in this trial of mine..probably many. I have discovered some of them, by God's grace. You take care of yourself. And by the way, before I forget I want to say that you are so beautiful.
Wishing you the very best always.

I'm so glad to hear you're going to be busy working on a new project. How honored to be chosen as your grandson's Friend in Faith. That's so nice that some of your family lives close to you. I didn't realize. I thought your family all lived in the Houston area. You have so many special memories and great photos!

Dolores,

I think of you often and pray for you on Fridays. I look to you as the example of how a Christian faces the horrible death of her spouse with so much grace. I am praying for you in this next phase of your life and hope you are well now.
