This, That and the Other

Each day when I sit down at my computer ....  this is what I see;  a beautiful picture of David and Casey.   It always makes me smile!

I made it through our 50th wedding anniversary on May 24th.     My best friend surprised me with  a James Avery charm that is heart shaped and says, "the heart remembers".....  she said it was from David to Sweetie (me) thru them....in her card she writes, the heart always remembers though physically apart, the heart still loves and ...always...til we meet again.   A very special surprise from the best friend ever!!!

David and I had matching 'Fishers of Men' bracelets.   As you see I put the charm on my special bracelet.
I gave David's bracelet to our daughter and of course she loves it.
Nine months ago today, July 5th  David went to his forever home.    I'm doing well, because I have the promise from God that I will be reunited with David once again.
What keeps me going?   My faith, family, friends, my dog and 2 cats, a home that I love....   I am blessed indeed.
I love flowers, trees, bushes....I love being outdoors.
My Crepe/Crape Myrtle in my teeny-tiny yard, which is perfect for me.

For me, this is my little paradise.
Our  granddaughter, Ellie spent last week with me.
We swam, baked brownies, I taught her how to use my sewing machine (she made 2 aprons), we played games and went shopping and had a great time together.
My best friend's daughter is the same age as Ellie.   They always enjoy being together.

(Jillian and Ellie)
My niece, Laura ask if I'd make her another afghan like I made her 26 years ago.  I was honored that she ask me, so.... I've gotten started on it, but I have a long way to go.
GOD is GOOD!!!!

Mom, I know every day isn't easy for you, but you are handling everything very well. I am proud of you & I know Daddy is too!

I am so glad that you and Ellie made some special memories together! She had such a wonderful time with you!

I was very touched and honored when you gave me Dad's bracelet. I wear it often and can remember always seeing it on Dad's wrist.
I love you!

I've heard of a few Texas gals who enjoy working on afghans in the summer evenings because the AC can be chilly. I find that fun! It's a very pretty pattern. So glad to find you here feeling well and looking up. Love, love, love the gift David gave you via friends. It really is beautiful and has such wonderful meaning. What fun to have a grandgirlie in the house for a while. Fun times!

I have been so remiss in keeping contact with you. It's amazing to me how fast life moves. I'm so glad you're adjusting well - I want to believe in your promise that you will be with David again someday. Your friends seem to be taking very good care of you, and your family is just wonderful. I miss you and will write soon.

love, your adopted daughter who needs to be less busy,
barbara

I'm so excited....it looks beautiful and can't wait to wrap it around my shoulders!! THANK YOU! I'm so happy to see you've posted again. The bracelet and Nelwyn's words made me tear up. I can only imagine how much you miss Uncle David....on a daily basis....minute by minute. And yet you just keep on inspiring me by your "keep on keepin' on attitude" and always trying to see the beauty in life which you represent in your house and yard!
I love you so much! L~

I am your biggest admirer sweet lady! Taugh times make you the warmest and compassionate human been, and I admire that, specially because you are to you too!.. as we sometimes tend not be compassionate with ourselves. I also know that your faith in the Lord is what gives you the strength you have and the certainty that you will be with your dearest David one day, when HE wants to take you there.
In the meantime you are making wonderful memories with your beautiful G'girl, cooking and sweing and now you got a beautiful chore to make...you talented all over! Hope your Fourth weekend is coming along lovely. How wonderful you were almost 50 years married..it's closer than not, so you were both blessed to have had each other this long. I know you'd want more, but this was a blessing too. You have such great friends, how sweet and endearing gesture they had. Prayers.
Big hugs and kisses,
FABBY

I will be going through our 45th anniversary soon. If you can make it through the 50th then I can make it through the 45th.

What a special friend you have. The charm is beautiful, but the thought behind it is priceless. May it be a constant reminder that you and David will be together again.

Glad you had so much fun with your granddaughter. There wasn't really a pecan that big was there?

That charm is such a lovely and thoughtful gift. How wonderful to have the love of friends like that. I'm sure it helps to ease your sorrow.
Your backyard does, indeed, look like a paradise. Your sitting area is so well thought out with the covering and shade to keep the sun away. The pool looks most inviting and your crape myrtle... gorgeous.
It's so nice to see you checking in, Dolores, and good to know you are keeping busy and doing well.
Your afghan looks so pretty and time spent with your granddaughter is so special.
Now, about that pecan... was it really that big? Wow!

Lovely Dolores,

Am trying hard to post on your blog for the third time today. I feel like we are having ice tea on your back patio and admiring the setting and the afghan you are making your niece. Great you can teach sewing to your granddaughter.

Hugs and prayers,
Carol

Hi Dolores - just stopped by to say hi and see how you're doing. I see that you are doing well and staying busy. What a beautiful bracelet and charm! I think I'd never take it off! Glad you got to spend some time with your granddaughter. Those are special times that she'll always remember. Take care, sweet lady, and hope you continue to do well. The Lord is watching over you!

I agree with the others who commented, what a lovely and thoughtful gift.

Your "earthly paradise" is so lovely and your special memories of you and David there make it even more so.

I love what you wrote about your sweet David and your knowing you'll be together through-out eternity. Blessing to you Dolores.

Thinking of you, Dolores, and know it has not been easy! I am sure there have been very hard times but it sounds as if you are going ahead in the right direction. You are so lucky to have a wonderful family and of course, your best friend. Isn't she just "a love" to think of something from David that is so sweet and full of love and emotion. How thoughtful. I would be wearing that bracelet everywhere.

Dolores, I love the Crepe Myrtle tree and the Caladium that is growing under it. My niece grows so much of that in South Carolina.
But I really like the afghan you are making. There is nothing like a wonderful warm afghan to cuddle with.

I know God is watching over you with such care. It is so good to hear from you.

With love and blessings,
Susannah

I've missed your sweet posts but I know that each day brings it's own challenges. You seem to be doing really well. I am happy that you have such good family and friends to support you. Wish I could come sit on that patio with you... we'd just talk and talk and we'd cry and cry. Life goes on.

Your yard does indeed look like a slice of paradise; very lovely! The afghan is beautiful and I’m sure it will be treasured by your niece. My youngest son has a blanket his grandmother knitted before he was born and it has spent every night with him for over 18 years :) He is going off to college this fall and was very disappointed when his older brothers advised him not to take his baby blanket – LOL!

Dolores...so glad to hear you are doing well...or as well as can be. It is a journey but as each day passes I hope it is filled with more joy and less sadness. When someone passes that has a beautiful spirit all things beautiful remind us of them...

What a lovely home you have; love your special place. I can see why you'd love it. I could easily spend hours day, doing nothing but quietly thanking the Lord for many blessings given. Seeing how well you're doing, seeing how well I am also doing makes me love the Lord just that much more. His love is precious- His Word better than gold. I love the predictability of His Word. If he says it- it's so.
Keep smiling. It looks good on you and makes those seeing it happy too.
May God be with you always. Love you and appreciate you far more than you realize.

Dolores,
What a lovely gift from your friend, I have never seen this before, I love it. I truly admire you, you are so strong and have so much faith, I too have faith and hope some day I can be just like you. I love your little paradise, we also have one and it's also small, don't think I could handle anything larger. I too am not good w/orchids, also had one but it's gone. My daughter loves them and is not getting her daughter on growing them. Blessings...Lu
