I call this picture 'admiring eyes'....look at the sweet smile on David's face as he's admiring his first grandchild, Francie.
Francie is now a 24 year old woman, college graduate, married, has a job she loves and she loves
to sing.
Even though her PoPe isn't here in person, I know he's smiling and still very proud of her and all his grandchildren.
Here's a little bio. written by Francie... and a video of her singing in the pasture with the cows.
I started playing the guitar with PoPe when I was very young. I loved sitting in his lap and pretending to play the guitar, singing Bible songs and old country songs.
I always loved singing! I would put on little concerts for my family in the living room.
When I was in middle school, I wanted to be in the church band. I auditioned and got into the band as the lead singer. On Sundays we would sing for the middle and high school students, I had a blast!
I loved the summers, when we would go on mission trips and I sing in front of everyone.

Once, I was in college, everything started happening so fast and I lost touch with my music. I did the occasional karaoke night here and there and I was the rockstar in my car. But, something felt missing.
After graduating college, getting married, moving, and getting a job, something still felt missing in my life.

My grandfather (PoPe) passed away in October and all that went through my head when he died was Willie Nelson's song, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" (PoPe's favorite). I couldn't get it out of my head. I found a cheap guitar that my husband had as a kid and I started playing.
Once I started, I couldn't stop.
I started writing songs, singing and playing the guitar, and I found myself again.
I began playing for friends and family, building my confidence.
In the spring I started singing at a couple of bars at Canyon Lake on the weekend. I love being in the spotlight.

(and here's our sweet Francie today)
As for me, (Dolores/Sweetie).......Casey, Pumpkin and Lovey.....I'm still missing David a lot, but God is good and I'm doing good!!!

Your pictures are a treasure sweet lady! David with his first grandchild is adorable and she's such a wonderful singer too. I remember the beautiful pictures when your grandgirl got married and David even danced with her! Wow, such amazing memories for you, her.. and all your family. God bless you and yours my friend.

Hi Dolores, This is very sweet for David's first grandchild to feel such a need to write and sing about her Pope. I'm sure she misses him so much. I, too, remember the pics of when David danced with her at her wedding. What a special moment to remember.
I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. I am always happy to read your posts.

I kept thinking when I was listening to Francie how proud and HAPPY Uncle David would be to see and watch Francie sing! Some a beautiful tradition to be passed down...the healing and joy of music! I'm so proud of Francie and all of our family! Love you!!! L~
Love this gift of music and honor to David in this blog post. Your granddaughter is so lovely and talented. What a legacy David left and you can continue with this post!
Yes, love endures!
Hugs and prayers,
Carol
I really enjoyed this "guest post"...you all have your sweet memories. And I had to chuckle when your granddaughter was keeping an eye on the very interested cow. Love how the talent flows from one generation to the next...
Sweet Dolores, that was a lovely post. I understand how she feels. I put my paino playing aside, life got in the way, raising my daughter etc. Daddy gave me the sheet music to Till the Storm Passes By, written by Mozie Lister. This song became important to him after he developed cancer, which he overcame! It was shsaped notes and I can't read them. I tried, but never accomplished that one. Since losing Daddy, I have really played my piano and I bought the music for this song, it is not shaped notes, and I play it now. He will not hear it, but one day.....
What a sweet post. It was so heartwarming to read about the special bond between PoPe and Francie through their love of music. I think the photo of her as a little girl playing PoPe's guitar is just precious She didn't seem to be letting the relatively large guitar get in the way of her fun.
Glad to hear that you are doing well, Dolores.
I just have to say that I have never met anyone so wonderful and thought so highly by every member of his family. He was one impressive man. I am sure God is using him up in Heaven doing something wonderful - waiting for us to come... sandie
Your David reminds me so much of my dad....when someone who is so loved and beautiful passes away EVERYTHING beautiful reminds us of them and there in lies the sadness because you just want to share it so much with them. But one day all that beautiful will be love and joy and there will be tears of happiness always....xoxo
Francie is such a pretty and talented young lady. I loved getting to know her better. Glad you are doing alright. One day at a time, dear friend.
Oh, she has a Wonderful voice!! And she is Beautiful! Fantastic genes in the family Girl!
What a Sweet tribute to David...Loving you today sweet friend!

Oh my goodness, what a voice ! Even without a special recording sound room she is belting out amazing sounds. It sure doesn't hurt that she is so pretty either. She really is talented and i hope she does as well as she deserves, she is someone I think many people would love to hear. It appears the cows appreciate her too ! :)
BTW, David's eyelashes look so thick and pretty as he gazes at his granddaughter.
David is truly a gift from GOD but above all he had GOD in his heart. Now days, men like David are few and far between. GOD truly did bless you, he loved the LORD, he was a good husband, father to his children and a good provider, how awesome is that.
Love it. think of you daily. Love j

She's a talented singer, but those cows scared me! They were acting kind of antsy!
