Today, (actually tomorrow) August 13th is David's birthday; he would have been 75.
Here's the post I wrote last year....2012.
(A precious 2 year old David)
(this post is from last year)
It's always fun to have a birthday celebration last as long as possible. Tuesday evening our best friends (Nelwyn, Keith and Jillian) and me started off with the first celebration for this wonderful man.. They brought 2 pints of Ben and Jerry's red velvet cake ice cream to AlzCare; it was mixed with Ensure and zapped in the blender to make a drink. He drank a huge glass of this sweet concoction. His eyes were open while we were there. The visit was a good one!!!

(4 year old David and his sister, Norma Anne)
Friday our daughter, her husband and 3 of their children were here to celebrate his birthday. His eyes were open.....a good visit!
On Sunday our son and his family were there to give him hugs and wish him a happy birthday. His eyes were open for a few minutes and he tried his best to smile. A good visit!

On his official birthday, his sister will go with me to see him. Hopefully his eyes will be open. It will be another good day!
David loved his sister, Sandi so much...... he loved teasing her!
Sweet memories!!!!
I'm so thankful for these precious pictures!
I started suspecting Alzheimer's when David was 63, he was diagnosed at 65.

Happy Birthday to my sweet sweet Uncle David! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as I think of you everyday!! Love you!!! L~
What a handsome man all his earthly life. How old do you suppose David is now? (My pastor thinks 33; his wife thinks 25. However old, he is well and whole and perfectly at home.) I hope that David's sister is doing very well. My husband and his sister enjoy a similar relationship. Stay cool now!
I'm sure he is enjoying his birthday in Heaven... I hope you enjoy your day... Do something special for your self you deserve it
Happy Birthday in Heaven David!!! I know you are still so missed down here. But you seemed like such a happy man and loving! I wish I had known you here. sandie
David was so handsome, from his childhood to his many ages thru life. I love the picture of him with the dog, it's gorgeous! I hope you have this one on a picture frame. He is most certainly having the best b'day next to His Father, our Lord. I'm so happy you all got together for David's birthday and that he is remembered and missed with such great love, from you and all his children. That's why he's happy up there, as his soul is at a real piece and bliss. Thank you for sharing sweet lady. God bless you always.
Love,
FABBY
My Friend,
Know that I think of you often and keep you close to my heart. Happy Heavenly Birthday David. Please dearest, do something special for yourself today (it's already tomorrow here). A celebration of sort.
Happy Birthday to your precious, wonderful husband - David. He seemed like such a great man who enjoyed his wife and family so much.
Dolores, what do you have planned for today? Try to find something that you have been wanting to do. God will be with you tomorrow as HE has been all this time.
Susannah
I echo your words ... 'happy birthday to David' ~~~ take good care, Dolores.
Hugs to you Dolores, this is another milestone in the first year without our loved ones. My heart is with you today. I am so glad that you have those precious and sweet memories! Hold tight to them toady and always! Big, big hugs to you!!!
I wish that we did not have this in common and that we had become friends for other reasons, (I think that David and Daddy would have been friends and probably are right now) but you have blessed me in other ways and I thank you for being the special "you" that you are!
Hugs to you Dolores, it must be so hard for you, missing such a wonderful husband and father. You indeed had a wonderful life with him.
Loved this! Love his two year old photo with the cake...precious!
Glad you are staying busy!!!

Hi Dolores,
Happy Birthday David. You know now how many friends that you have that love you through beautiful Dolores.
Karen
Dear Heart, my eyes teared up while reading this- while viewing the photos. I know how much you miss this precious man. I do! On October 27 it will be a year since Johnny's death, but sometimes it still seems like just yesterday. Moving on has been and is very hard. But as we both know it is part of what life is. And it is only a temporary goodbye. That fact, my sweet friend is what keeps me going. I know that soon I will see my Johnny again. I say soon because it won't be that long before Jesus comes again.
Please know I pray for you every day. We both have our good days, for God places blessing within our hands all the time. It is just that we miss the men who so filled us with such joy. Take care. I love you very much.
