Alzheimer's Reading Room: Test Your Memory for Alzheimer's Dementia in 15 Minutes (SAGE)

 an interesting test....
Alzheimer's Reading Room: Test Your Memory for Alzheimer's Dementia in 15 Minutes (SAGE)

David and Casey love to sit on our patio; they enjoy the sunshine, flowers and listening to the birds singing!!

We've had a lot of windy weather, which means we have leaves ...etc on the sidewalk and patio. David continues to enjoy sweeping outdoors.  Sweeping is a job he can do, and it helps him to feel productive and successful.

David goes to his neurologist every 6 months.  Yesterday was 'doctor day'....we are so blessed to have a doctor that we love and respect.  The doctor treats David  with so much respect.....which makes my heart sing!   After the appointment ....we went to his favorite restaurant......you've heard it before..... good ole Olive Garden.

The doctor  said to continue with the Aricept and Namenda, and he reminded David to exercise.   David takes Casey walking a couple of times a day, but he isn't walking as far as he did in the past.   We're looking forward to warmer water in the pool, and  he can get more exercise by swimming.  Not only is exercise good for his mind and body, but it also gives him something to do that helps to fill his time.

David is in the  6th stage of Alzheimer's, which is called 'Severe Cognitive Decline', and it ranges from moderate to severe, thankfully David is still in the moderate stage of #6.
I feel so blessed that David still enjoys the beauty of springtime.
And I say, "thank you God, that we continue having more good days than bad day!"

So good to know that you are having more good days than bad. I'm glad that David has a good doctor that treats him with respect. I know one of the reasons my mom didn't want anybody to know she had Alzheimer's is that she thought people would treat her differently.

Your yard looks absolutely beautiful and the pool looks so inviting.

Wishing you and David a GOOD weekend.

This daughter of a mother who had both Alzheimer's and Lewy Body disease would be terrified to take a test! Have a wonderful weekend! Tell David I said hello please. The poem I posted was actually written almost three years ago shortly before Mother passed away ... as I sat vigil night and day in her room.

Delores: Good to see an update!

Glad to know you have a wonderful doctor. That makes such a difference, doesn't it?

I was not aware that there are defined stages of Alzheimer's and that there are even severity levels with each stage. This is good information to have.

I so enjoy stopping by your blog to hear your news and rejoice with you...because you are ALWAYS rejoicing. :D

Blessings to you, my cyber-friend! Happy Spring!

Your outdoor area is gorgeous, Dolores! The weather here has been in the 80's but I still have to heat the pool to swim in it and we started swimming. The pool has to be at least 82 degrees for me to get in. I am so glad David is having more good than bad days. I hope it keeps up....Christine

So glad you are still having good days with David. How could one not enjoy such a beautiful yard and pool area! I know ya'll are looking forward to spending lots of time out there!

I didn't know about the stages of Alz. either. Well, I sorta did, but not that they were named and ranked. Makes me wonder at what stage is my MIL.... From what you've said about David and what I know from my MIL, they seem to have a lot of similarities. I'll have to do some studyin' up on this subject.

Big hugs to you - have a wonderful weekend! Vickie

Your yard is simply amazing; it looks like a great place to relax and enjoy God.
Don't forget to take care of you; it's always easy to forget that's as important as taking care of someone else.
