My favorite time of day has always been late afternoon... sunset...... We were sitting on the patio with our animals, enjoying and loving this wonderful fall weather. I ask David some questions, his response in red.
Do you remember our daughter's name? Karen......, and I say YEA!
My name? Dolores...., and I say YEA again!
What is your favorite time of day?"..... .. He thinks for a few minutes, and said, "I love to eat, so anytime we eat is my favorite time of day...." He does love to eat, and for that I am grateful!
(good times 1982 in Australia)
Next question, what do you miss the most since you've had Alzheimer's? Hmmmmmmm, not remembering my work and not remembering the connections of everyone ...
Do you miss driving? No, I shouldn't drive because I'd have a wreck, and I sure don't want to do that.
What does it feel like to have Alzheimer's? My brain feels foggy.
On the beach last year...
David had a good week and weekend ....and so far so good this week.
And I say, "thank you God for the best daughter and best friend with big hearts and listening ears!"

I'm so glad to hear that David is doing good now. It sounds like he was able to answer your questions very well.
I enjoyed seeing your picture from your trip to Australia. My husband and I are in the process of deciding whether we will plan a trip there to visit our son. Looks like you enjoyed your trip.
I hope that the good days will continue for you and David.
Hugs,
Kim
Those were terrific answers!
I sometimes get good moments like that from Cecile but less frequently.
Today she told me she spoke to her 2 sisters and I reminded her that one of them had passed away several years ago, she had a look that said (I dont believe you)then she told me she spoke to Terry and Cheryl >so there ... I replied Cheryl is your daughter remember ?
Nope ... she was sure she was her sister.... so that's fine who am I to argue....
Its all ok and dosen't matter.... I wonder who she thinks I am ...I know she can't remember my name and asks me all the time....
No calls yet for an assessment..slow ...slow..slow...

What great answers, that is wonderful! Good weeks, days, family and friends, what more could you ask? Keep 'em coming! Love ya!
yea! Thank you God for the good answers, and the time you give us each day to enjoy them.
Dolores,
praise God! for David's responses~ I am so happy that you all were able to have a good conversation. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord bless you both!
Much love,
Vikki
I'm always so encouraged by your heart for your husband and your faith in our Lord, in spite of such horrible circumstances. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 64. My husband and I were married just a couple of months before her diagnosis. Your blog gives me insight into the struggles my father-in-law and sister-in-law, her primary caregivers, daily face. Helps me know better how to pray...thank you!
Actually, she is 64 now, was diagnosed at the age of 60...
What a great idea to write down some of these thoughts of David's. I love that you did this.
Davids answers were pretty good, even insightful. Wow. That is certainly praise-worthy!
Happy Autumn Week to you and David.
You and David are a remarkable couple. Love his answers to your questions and the questions you posed to him. You give me hope that I can go through my own journey with my husband's Alzheimer's.
I see a bit of humor in David's answers~ "..so anytime we eat is my favorite time of day". I love that answer!
You got some great answers to your questions, some thoughtful answers. It is so sweet to read posts like this, and see the love you have nurtured over many years being lived in the face of Alzheimer's.
I'm glad to read you are both doing well and that you are counting your blessings!
I love that you Asked these questions! It not only helps you but the many people who read you! You're so brave Miz Delores...I'm honored to know you...
(((HUG)))
Wow, David sounds very lucid this week! I love his reasoning for not driving!! I also love to eat, so I think David and I would get along well!
Have you thought of videotaping him?
As always, you're my role model!

Hi Dolores - David still has some great answers and for that we CAN be thankful. I think they're good questions, too. My MIL still remembers her immediate family and we are thankful for that. My daughter was at home this weekend and she stopped by to see Mema and took her some roses AND a note to say who they were from so Mema would hopefully remember. Hayley is so scared that Mema will forget her. I've told her that Mema may forget your name but never your love. That's about all we can hope for sometimes.
It seems that David still kinda knows what's going on and that he does have a problem remembering and that's good, Dolores. Thank God for "little things"!
Lovely photos and lovely post. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Dolores.....those answers were teriffic! Just to be able to carry on a conversation like that is wonderful...for both of you. I am taking it that you daughter and good friend listen to you and understand. Thank God for your wonderful daughter and good friend. We all need someone to listen to us and be there for us...especially you, Dolores.
I hope , to Heaven, that you and David have a very good and enjoyable week.
