(our two little clowns 1970)
It's windy here in south Texas. It feels like fall, and it's finally beginning to look more like fall. I'm loving the weather! The only downside to the wind .... hallucinations; however, they're still happy hallucinations.....YEA!We went to David's favorite restaurant this week.... Olive Garden..... it's so amazing how this restaurant makes him so happy. When we left the restaurant and started home, he said, "call Karen (our daughter) and tell her where we ate lunch" he wanted to tease her....made my heart sing.
(our son's first Halloween - 1964)
I ordered David's new prescription of Aricept 23mg from our mail order pharmacy..... I was so tickled when I discovered that we'd be saving money . He's currently taking two 10mg of Aricept a day. A 90 day supply was $1,200.00; the 23mg once a day for 90 days will be $579.00....Yea! We have insurance coverage, but right now we're in the gap, donut hole or whatever they call it.........With the price of these expensive drugs, we're in the gap/donut hole by June.

And I say, "thank you God for cooler weather and happy days."

Oh my gosh, really? Do you not have insurance? I balk when I pay $90 for each of Clynt's scripts! How do you afford it?
I know, personal questions...sorry...I'm glad David still enjoys the Olive Garden and that his "pictures" are still happy!!
Just sending a hug.
My Dear Friend,
Forgive me for not checking in sooner. Life has been a little difficult lately. However, like you, I am glad for the good days and the blessings of God revealed in each one.
I love the photos of your children and you. Your little granddaughter is so lovely and David looks as if he is enjoying her company. How wonderful to see his beautiful smile.
Know that you are in my prayers, dear friend. I pray god blesses you abundantly today.
In Grace,
Marie
Dolores, God bless ya! You are so encouraging...thanks for your comments on my blog. I'm praising God for the grace He has shown to David and to you in this experience. Your continued faith is such an example for all of us. God is good, all the time, and I thank you for your faithfulness.
Deb
We like Olive Garden also.
Your pictures are so much fun. LOL I am using last year's Pretzels for Trick or Treaters that come tomorrow. They are in packages and don't taste stale. We live in the country and don't often get many who come to our home--some times no one comes.
About the cost of ALZ medicine--glad this is less. $4800 a year for Aricept that you used to pay! RIDICULOUS! We have been struggling with the cost of my husband's Namenda and Exelon and are about to change prescription insurance coverage which we seniors are allowed to do in the fall. Got help from some of his other medicine from Wal-mart.
Hope you and David have a great weekend, Dolores!
You have the sweetest family photos!
That's a hefty amount you pay for meds wow...
I am very lucky to have insurance coverage for all those things. One less thing for me to worry about.
Diane
Hi Dolores - I'm so glad you had such a good day with David at Olive Garden. He's still got a little teasing left in him, doesn't he! I know it makes you feel so encouraged when these former things still come out sometimes!
Tony told me that he'd heard that the patent on Aricept is running out in the next few months and that we'll be able to get a generic. I know we're spending alot of money on it, too, and this will help alot - especially those that don't have insurance. I just don't know how those folks can do it!
I hope your weekend is glorious! Cute Halloween pics!
I am glad David is doing well, it makes you life easier I know.
The hallucinations, oh yeah, cool weather wind, oh yeah.
Delores, that wasn't Papa, it was me, sometimes I forget when I am wearing his hat. hugs. Judi
So glad to hear you both had a fun lunch out together! Love his sense of humor!
Have a fun weekend with all the trick or treaters and your grandchilden. Fun to look back on the 'kids' and their costumes! Times sure have changed.
A prayer for you tonight!
I don't think I will ever again go to the Olive Garden or hear one of their commercials without thinking of you and David and his delight in eating there.
Wow, that is a pretty penny or two for a prescription! I know this is a real blessing for you and seeing the drug has really helped just shows how needful it is.With its effectiveness and the increasing need for some solutions to Alzheimers' maybe the price will go way down very soon, even with the reduction in price , that is a lot of money. Praise God for David's humor, memory, and your love for each other.
The pictures are so sweet. Does David remember any of the events in them?
Your Halloween photos are all so sweet. I especially love the one of you and your son on his first Halloween. You and you daughter look so much alike.
How wonderful that David still has a sense of humor and loves to eat at the Olive Garden.
I'm glad that you have found a source for less expensive medicine. The price of medication is sometimes enough to make one have health problems.
Happy Halloween.
I wonder what it is about Olive Garden that he finds so comforting? That is fabulous that he enjoys it so much and that he wanted to share with your daughter! We were at a family function the other day and my grandmother kept asking me how many children she has and where they were. It makes me wonder who she thinks I am but I don't want to ask her, I don't want to hear her answer.
Thank God for good days!
Hugs,
Karla
Don't you just love donuts????Hahaaa
Hi sweet lady...I'm Back!
hughugs
I love these old photos Delores...seeing your beautiful family is so nice...
You do such a great job taking care of things, Dolores. I love looking at all of your old photos.
Great happy pictures, Dolores. Looks like David is happy and doing well and thank God for that and I am happy that your cost is a lot less too. I am so glad also that out of 4 prescription medicine, my mom only has to take one, the one for her high cholesterol. I think that is pretty good for a 92 yr. old....Christine
Oh sweetie...I'm thanking God for good days along with you.
What a blessing.
What a joy.
Love the old pictures...precious. I know I've told you this before but what I wouldn't give to have ONE of me as a child with my mother or father. Soooo few!
Love to you~
Rebecca
What sweet photos, and what a lovely story about the Olive Garden!
