FRIENDS

We know that friends come in all sizes, ages and personalities;  there are fair weather friends,  just say, "hi" friends, and friends we don't see for a long time, but when we see one another, it's like we've never been apart.  There are  fun time  friends, the friends who disappoint you ... and you may disappoint them also.  There are blogging friends who I've never met in person, and yet I feel such a kindred spirit.  There are friends you can laugh, cry and have fun with, and accept one another......, just as we are.

In the pictures below are three friends  who met on a church spiritual walk (Emmaus) in July of 1994, three generations, three friends......we've shared happy and sad times together.....always loving and forgiving one another.

The beautiful lady in the American flag vest will be moving to Ohio in a few days.....I'm feeling such a mix of emotions.....I'm happy for her, because she'll be living with family (she doesn't look it, but she's 90, and it will be good for her to be with her family), but on the selfish side...... we're going to miss her presence among us.

Thank God for the computer!    For a couple of years, we've shared, by way of e-mail, what we call our 'moment' each day, the best part of our day.  Sometimes it gets re-dundant, but the main thing.. it keeps us connected each and every day.

Each Wednesday we go to our favorite Mexican food restaurant and spend an hour together.
The picture below was taken tonight with our favorite waitress....
Here we are on a trip of a lifetime, enjoying a glass of wine together on the streets of Israel......so many fun times.

I can't imagine traveling this journey with David's Alzheimer's without my faithful and loving friends!
And I say, "thank you God!!!!!"

Man, is it great to have friends that understand!! I can't believe your one friend is 92!! She doesn't look a day past 70!

I'm glad you're able to get out, even if it's only for an hour, and that you have church friends too. I need to get a church!!

Take care of you!

Hey Dolores - what special lovely friends you have! How'd we get by without them!

These look like two very special people in your life and I'm so glad you've had them. I know you'll miss your friend but I'm sure she's taking you with her in spirit - and you're keeping a little bit of her with you!

You're such a glass-half-full girl and always have such a thankful heart, you should join in the Give Thanks Challenge over at Leah's South Breeze Farm!

Have a wonderful week, friend!

... and I say - happy to be back in Oregon! I feel refreshed and thankful for all the wonderful moments I experienced during my travels. Good friends, new friends, family ... doesn't get any better. Speaking of friends, yours look wonderful. I know you will miss your beautiful friend who is moving, you are right about the ease of staying in touch today. Hoping David is doing well. I haven't had an opportunity to read back any further ... so much to do right now. My daughter and significant other are heading to Hawaii tomorrow for one week ... I have dog sitting duty and I suspect a grandchild or two as well. Looking forward to it! Beth and Steve work hard and deserve a nice break. Take care, I've missed you!

Hi Delores, thank God for friends! They are bright spots in our lives and like you said, meet us at different places and times in our lives. Israel! My husband and I would so love to go there. I would love to stand in the same places and see the same things that our Lord did. How inspiring.

It is so wonderful to have friends, I never spent much time cultivating them and now that I have, I feel so rich and so blessed. Just as you are with such sweet friends, that have treasured you and been there for you, all those years. What wonderful memories and thank God for the Computer!! I would never have 'met' you without it!
P.S. My mom actually visited your blog....I am blown away....she loves your attitude! She is 87 and kept my Dad home as long as she could, so she knows some of the difficulty you have met and faced....with a good and blessed attitude! Keep smiling!

The friendship you share with these 2 ladies sounds like a very special relationship. I'm sure it is going to be hard to have one of them move away, but you're right that the computer does make it much easier to keep in touch. I think it's great that at age 92 your friend is using the computer.

Oh, Delores! I love this post SO much!

It makes my heart sing to know that you have women alongside you, as you walk through life; the good and the bad and the mundane.

What a wonderful gift friendship is, especially for us ladies.

I know you will all find a way to keep in touch, as you have always done ... and PLUS, we have eternity. :)

Beautiful post praising the gift of friends. I think this is the kind of friendship that survives distance~ a true gift from God.

"Perspective" is the word that comes to mind every time I visit your wonderful blog. It helps me to slow down and to not take my loved ones for granted. Though I haven't been able to visit often, I thank God for you!

i adore the idea of three generations coming together in a world (even in the church world) where the generations seem to be moving apart and separating. God's way is unity and you three grand women are a beautiful example of such.

Dolores, I'm forwarding your site to one of my dear friends whose mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. Her name is Donna and she is precious!

Dolores, oh my goodness! Lily is paralyzed! How sad! What does the vet say? Can it be reversed? Can she still get by like that? I'm so sorry to hear that! Please keep me updated on her! Of course, I'll pray for her! She's a special part of your family! Poor Lily...
