I started our Moving Forward With Alzheimer's blog 2 years ago, the 1st of January 2009; how time flies. I praise God that David is doing so well...... not great, but.... better than I would have thought at this stage of the game.
I can see David changing, and I get sad, but then I think ...each of us are changing day by day; nothing stays the same...
We're so blessed to have family and friends........
God is good!!!

Yes, he certainly is handsome, and you are lovely. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family.
Love, Gilda
I love these pictures, Dolores. He is a handsome gentleman, indeed, and he has a beautiful wife. My favorite of these photos is the one of David standing and you sitting (or are you standing??)by his side. Looking at this picture of the two of you, I would say you are perfectly matched. Why? Well, since David is quite tall, you never have to worry about having to reach high shelves, and as you are not so tall, he never has to worry about standing on his head to get something from a bottom shelf! How special and convenient is that??? You are both in my prayers.
He truly is a handsome man. You're so right none of us stay the same.. From our home to yours Happy New Year! hugs ~lynne~
I think he's especially handsome with his beard!
I know it's hard, but really be thankful he thanks you...my father never did, and it wore on my mother. Fortunately, Clynt does, so it helps. David could be way more miserable to deal with!
Happy New Year, from one Alz family to another...may we stay where we are and never change (I can hope, can't I?) :)
Happy Blogging Anniversary!
I agree with the other ladies ... David looks quite handsome and happy, even. Love these photos.
Also, I think you and David are each being given grace in equal (but perhaps, different-looking) measure. Day by day. He, the gentleman. You, the loving wife. It must look sooo beautiful to God.
Happy Almost New Year, Delores!!
you are very fortunate....my FIL has dimentia...and is not so nice...
You make a beautiful couple! Your writing always touches my heart. You said, "I can see David changing, and I get sad, but then I think ...each of us are changing day by day; nothing stays the same"...
it made me think of 2 Cor. 4:16...
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
I find great comfort in those words.
I remember reading that one of the important things to learn as we grow older is that nothing stays the same but God NEVER CHANGES. That reminds me of what you said in a way. Our husbands are changing.. we're changing..the world is changing.. yet our God .. He never changes. We can always depend on Him to remain the same.. yesterday.. today.. and tomorrow.. He will remain the same. That is what we must cling to.
Bless you!
David looks so good, Dolores. His smile looks so nice. You look very pretty too. Happy New Year!...Christine
Hi Dolores ~~~
David is looking quite dapper with his beard. I always loved a man with a great beard! My hubby had one quite a long time ago - a short shapely one and I loved it! However, his boss didn't! haha!
And I agree, Dolores, we're ALL changing - I see it in the mirror every day, and I know you're speaking of a different type of change. But I know that you're loving the man that you married and you will be no matter how many changes he goes through. You two look so sweet together - a perfect match!
I especially like the comment left by 'Living on Less Money', along with the scripture.
Yes, your David is handsome, and how kind he seems even while lost in the fog of his mind. Alzheimers is just a bad , bad thing, for him, for you, for everybody. But Alzheimers hasn't stolen your love for each other.Don't let that nasty affliction even cause you to be hard on yourself!
The coming year may be even more difficult for you and David, yet the God that made him, and you, will surely comfort you, even when you feel like throwing in the towel or waving the flag of surrender.Prayers for you both, and a wonderful year in spite of that nasty old Alzheimers!( Al is a party pooper, don't you think?)
:) Jenny
So beautiful! I am glad you find joy in what is a difficult journey. Hang in there, friend.
What a handsome couple. Pretty tree also. Dolores, you set the example of "for better, for worse, in sickness and in health".
Hugs,
Carol

He is indeed handsome, and God is good. Your circumstances are just one example of His goodness. I'm so glad you share this with others. Your encouraging attitude must help many others. God bless you, Dolores. Hugs, Debbie
Dearest Friend.
What beautiful photos of you, David, and your family and friends. God is, indeed, gracious to supply with support through those who enter our lives.
My prayer for you and David is a very blessed and happy New Year. I pray his disease so little or no progression and that you are strengthened to care for him. I pray also for your spiritual and emotional well being. Being a caregiver can be exhausting and draining in addition to rewarding and fulfilling. You show forth the grace of God so beautifully even though I know you are, at times, a little worn and weary.
You and David are in my thoughts and prayers daily. May our loving Father-God bless you with all good things in the year ahead.
In Grace,
Marie
David looks great and you do too. Your Christmas tree is very pretty. Happy New Year, Delores and David.
Well, my dear you know by now I have always had a little crush on your David! I also want to tell you how 'alive' David is .. you can see it by looking into his eyes. In photos my mother's eyes became distant looking even before she was diagnosed. I will never forget seeing that in a church photo of her. I cried that year when I opened her gift - that photo.
I predict a good year for both of you!!!!
This is such beautiful post! U. David looks so dashingly handsome!! I feel so blessed that you are my aunt and blessed also that you have always been so inspiring!
Love you! L~
Dolores~
Happy New Year to you and Mr. David. I love seeing his smiling face and pray always for the Light of God to shine into his heart and mind.
You are so dear to me. I want you to know you inspire me to press onward with the two men in my life living with ALZ... Your heart is truly more loving and precious than mine.
Thinking of you this day and praying only good days are on the horizon.
Love, Rebecca
